“The Tree That Shares Her Birthday”
Farah’s daughter was born in the same week their first ZASH tree was planted.
It started as a coincidence on a tree passport - a planting date that happened to match a birth certificate. It has since become a small family ritual.
Every year, on her daughter’s birthday, Farah opens the passport and reads out how tall the oak has grown, where it stands, and what has started growing around it.
“She thinks the tree is her twin. I haven’t had the heart to correct her.”
For Farah, the clothes came first and the story came later. She bought pieces that would last through a toddler’s spills and a mother’s long days, and found that each one quietly added to something bigger.
Now her daughter asks, at every new purchase, whether it comes with a tree.

The oak will outgrow them both. That, Farah says, is the nicest thing about it.
Some birthdays are marked with candles. Theirs is marked with rings in a trunk, one for every year.
